Braves Trade Rumors: Atlanta Reportedly Interested In Nationals Outfielder Xavier Nady

According to MLB.com's Braves beat writer Mark Bowman, the Atlanta Braves are expressing interest in Washington Nationals outfielder Xavier Nady and that he could be the right-handed bat that they have been looking for.

In 2011 for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Nady started 82 games, scoring 26 runs on 51 hits and four home runs. He had a .248 batting average. In his career, Nady has scored 349 runs, hit 97 home runs and has a career batting average of .275.

SB Nation's Braves site, Talking Chop, isn't really buying the fact that the team's interested in acquiring Nady.

Nady is currently with the Washington Nationals, having signed a minor league deal with them only 10 days ago. So if the Braves really wanted him they could have signed him at the beginning of spring training. Even though the injury to Chipper Jones had not happened yet, the Braves chose not to protect themselves by signing a guy like Nady. And now they might want to trade for him? Doesn't make much sense to me.
