Atlanta Braves Give Up Nine Homers (NINE!), Lose 18-3 To Tigers

The Atlanta Braves have a total of 10 hits in two games thus far in Spring Training. The Detroit Tigers hit nine home runs today. Does someone need to tell the club that it is no longer September?

Randall Delgado started the game and only made it through one inning, allowing four runs on two hits and two walks. He was pulled for Julio Teheran, who have up seven runs on six hits and a walk. Jairo Asencio worked a perfect inning in the fifth, just to see Jason Rice allow six runs (five earned) on three hits and three walks in one-third of the sixth.

Top-10 organizational prospects J.J. Hoover worked 1.2 scoreless innings without allowing a run, and Sean Gilmartin made his Spring Training debut worked another scoreless inning, allowing one hit and recording one strikeout.

Martin Prado was one of the few regulars to make the trip and went 2-for-3 on the afternoon. Tyler Pastornicky went 0-for-4 and left four runners on base, while Matt Diaz took an 0-for-3. Ernesto Mejia drove in a run in the fifth with an RBI-triple. Andrelton Simmons knocked in a run while grounding into a double play in the eighth, and Jordan Parraz cut the deficit to 18-3 with an RBI-single up the middle.

Jair Jurrjens will take the mound on Monday afternoon against the Astros.
