Veteran Chipper Jones is out of the Atlanta Braves Grapefruit league lineup Tuesday, this for the third straight day, according to Mark Bowman, Braves beat writer for MLB.com.
As Bowman tweeted, Jones just needs a little more time to let the mild soreness of his leg heal. Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said on Monday that Jones' soreness was not a major issue and that he should have no trouble playing catch-up with the rest of the infielders.
Jones is 39 years old, with 18 seasons under his belt and missed time in 2011 due to problems with his knees.
The Braves play against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday, coming off a 10-5 win against the Houston Astros on Monday. Atlanta plays the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, a team that just swept them in a weekend series.
