Opening Day is nearly upon us, and the Atlanta Braves are set to open the season on the road in New York against the Mets, which is in a way fitting in Chipper Jones' final season with the Braves.
Tommy Hanson draws the Opening Day start for the Braves on Thursday, April 5 at 1:10 p.m. Hanson was limited to just 130 innings in 2011, going 11-7 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Hanson suffered a shoulder injury last year, but he is fully healthy to begin 2012 and consequently drew the Opening Day start.
After a three game set against the Mets, the Braves head to Houston to take on the lowly Astros.
Atlanta won't open up at home until Friday, April 13 against the defending National League Central champion Milwaukee Brewers.
