Cristhian Martinez Arrested: Reliever Charged With DUI

Martinez was arrested early Monday morning in Gwinnett County on several charges

Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Cristhian Martinez was arrested on charges of DUI early Monday morning in Gwinnett County, according to David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Along with DUI, Martinez was charged with improper lane change and impeding the flow of traffic. He was booked into the Gwinnett County jail at 4:24 a.m., according to O'Brien.

He was in Gwinnett to prepare for Tuesday's exhibition game against the Braves top minor league prospects.

A strong spring had landed Martinez a spot again in the Braves bullpen. The 30-year-old right hander registered 13 innings in spring training, allowing two runs and striking out 13 batters.

Martinez is about to enter his third season with Atlanta and posted a 3.36 ERA in 46 appearances for the Braves in 2011.
