MLB Standings Update: Atlanta Braves Stand Atop N.L. East

The Atlanta Braves are in first place in the National League East with a 22-13 record and a .629 winning percentage. In second place is the Washington Nationals who are only a half game back, holding a 21-13 record. The Braves have won seven of their last nine games including a three-game road sweep over the St. Louis Cardinals this past weekend.

Atlanta holds an unimpressive 3-6 record against N.L. East opponents, however the team's performance on the road (14-8) has helped them stay in control in the N.L. East. The Braves have the second best record in the N.L. behind the 23-11 N.L. West leading Los Angeles Dodgers.

Brandon Beachy is asserting himself as one of the top starting pitcher's in the N.L.. In his second season, he has the third-best ERA in the N.L. at 1.60.

This week, the Braves two consecutive two-game series against Cincinnati and Miami before finishing the week with a three-game series against Tampa Bay on the weekend.
