The Braves won't have to worry about one of the Phillies left handed bats off the bench for the rest of the series after Philadelphia placed Jim Thome on the disabled list with a sore back.
Phillies placed Jim Thome on the DL. Erik Kratz will take his place on the roster. He will be in Atlanta for tonight's game.

It has been a struggle for Thome who is hitting .111 with no homers and no RBIs. Thome has appeared in 12 games and has two hits in 18 at bats. Ty Wigginton has seen most of the playing time at first base this season as Philly awaits the return of slugger Ryan Howard to the lineup.
