On Friday May 18, Chipper Jones took a ball off his ankle against the Tampa Bay Rays and he has been sidelined ever since with the exception of making a pinch hit appearance against the Reds on May 23.
The Braves have now decided to play Jones on the 15-day disable list retroactively to May 23, which means that Jones would first be eligible to return on June 8 at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The injury does not look pretty and there is video of Jones' ankle on Talking Chop, and be warned the video is fairly graphic as the bruise starts at his ankle and goes mostly up his shin plus a large laceration of where the ball landed on his ankle.
