The Atlanta Braves won the first two games of their series this weekend with the Toronto Blue Jays, but decision making from Fredi Gonzalez and an awful showing from Livan Hernandez and the bullpen cost them a game they really should have won. Let's take a look at the action from the last few days at Turner Field.
Game one saw the Braves honor John Smoltz by retiring his number, which truly was a great site to behold. Atlanta went 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position, but the club rallied in the 10th inning behind Jason Heyward to win 4-3.
Saturday's game was headlined by a great start from Tommy Hanson, who threw eight innings of two-run ball. Dan Uggla hit a key three-run homer in the third inning and Andrelton Simmons hit the first long ball of his career on the Braves' way to a 5-2 win.
Atlanta took an early 4-0 lead behind a dominant Julio Teheran on Sunday's series finale, but the young righty lost command in the fifth and was pulled early in favor of Livan Hernandez, who saw eight runs cross the plate as he took the mound. The Braves lost what turned out to be an ugly 12-4 game.
Next up for the Braves are the New York Yankees for what should be a great three-game series at Turner Field.
