The Atlanta Braves lost their fourth straight game on Wednesday night, dropping the series finale to the New York Yankees by a score of 3-2. Despite a scoring chance in seemingly every innings, Brian McCann's two-run homer in the sixth inning was all the Braves would muster offensively.
Tim Hudson pitched well for most of the evening, working six innings of three-run ball. Hudson did not walk a batter and surrendered just six hits, although one of those was a costly two-run homer to Curtis Granderson that gave New York a 3-2 lead. Hudson struck out eight Yankees.
Hiroki Kuroda dipped in and out of trouble all evening, but still managed to go six innings and allow just two runs on nine hits and two walks. He struck out eight.
The big blow of the night came in the eighth inning. With runners on first and third and just one out, Martin Prado stepped to the plate. He fell behind 0-2 and then grounded a sinker weakly to shortstop Derek Jeter, who ignited a 6-4-3 double play. Atlanta left 13 men on base.
The Braves have an off-day on Thursday and return to play a three-game series on Friday with the Orioles.
