Brandon Beachy Injury: Frank Wren Not Optimistic Waiting For MRI

While the Braves wait for the MRI results on Brandon Beachy's right elbow, Braves general manager Frank Wren is not exactly expecting the best of news.

Beachy was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday. There is some fear that Beachy, who is 5-5 with a 2.00 ERA, may have torn his ulnar collateral ligament, which usually requires Tommy John Surgery. Manager Fredi Gonzalez is hoping it's just bone spurs, but Wren didn't have the same optimism. From the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

"Not necessarily," the GM said. "Until you get a firm idea, I think we just have to wait and see. These things, you kind of have a sense of it when they happen, what the likelihood is of it being serious. It’s kind of hard to be real optimistic….

"Until we get the final reading and the doctors examine him, I can’t speculate."
