Brandon Beachy Injury: Braves Pitcher Has Partially Torn Ligament In Elbow

Many feared the worst when Brandon Beachy left Saturday's game in the fourth inning with an elbow injury. Those fears were realized on Monday when an MRI exam revealed that Beachy had a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow which usually would require ligament replacement surgery (Tommy John) and 12-14 months of rehab.

The next course of action is for Beachy to get some second opinions on the diagnosis and will visit Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday. In the short term Atlanta will recall Jair Jurrjens from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday to to take Beachy's place in the rotation against the Red Sox.
