When the Braves put Chipper Jones on the disabled list back on May 24 the hope was that he would be able to return to action when he was eligible on June 8. Fredi Gonzalez indicated on Friday that Jones might need a few extra daysafter his 15 day stint is up.
"He doesn't know if he's going to be ready right when those 15 days are up,"
Gonzalez also expects Jones to do some sort of rehab stint in the minors which will also push back his expected return date somewhat. With the Braves certainly more healthy than they were a week ago there is no need to rush Jones back.
Jones has played in 29 games for the Braves and is hitting .307 with five homers and 24 RBIs.
