Atlanta Braves Win Series Against Arizona Diamondbacks, Denied Sweep In Finale

The Braves and Diamondbacks met for a three-game series at Turner Field this week. Atlanta could have easily swept the series, but poor hitting early in game three and a late homer from Chris Young ended any chance of that. Here are the recaps from each game in case you missed anything.

Tim Hudson completely dominated on Tuesday night, seldom needing more than three or four pitches to record an out. The veteran righty allowed just one run to score on an innocent homer from Jason Kubel, while the Braves struck early and often against Daniel Hudson. Hudson left the game with elbow pains and ended up tearing his UCL.

Atlanta got out to an early 6-0 lead against the D-backs in game two, headlined by a solo homer from Jason Heyward and a two-run bomb from Chipper Jones. Arizona rallied a bit in the late innings with homers from Ryan Roberts and Young, but they were not enough as the Braves won 6-4.

The Braves made top-prospect Trevor Bauer work in his debut on Thursday night, but the club went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base. That left the door open for the Diamondbacks, who tied it on a Kubel double and then took the lead on Young's homer off Craig Kimbrel in the ninth.

Atlanta will now shift their focus to the Washington Nationals. The D-backs face the Brewers next.
