Byron Buxton Selected By Twins With No. 2 Pick

Appling County High School product and University of Georgia signee Byron Buxton was selected 2nd overall by the Minnesota Twins in the 2012 MLB Draft.

Buxton did everything for Appling County and led them to the Class AA State Championship this season. He will be an outfielder in the professional ranks. MLB.com analyst Harold Reynolds compares Buxton to a variety of talented major league outfielders.

"He reminds me a lot of Mike Cameron with the power he's got to all fields, Adam Jones with being able to pull the ball to all fields, and B.J. Upton ... I love the size and strength, and ability to adjust," Reynolds said. "For me, he also reminds me a lot of Eric Davis, with the ability to jump on a pitch and drive it."
