MLB Draft 2012: Carlos Correa, Mark Appel Highlight Wild First Round

The 2012 MLB Draft is officially underway. The first round came and went on Monday evening without a hitch, although there were some surprises. Mark Appel, the projected No. 1 pick for months, dropped all the way to eighth due to sign ability issues. Carlos Correa, a shortstop currently playing and studying in Puerto Rico, was the first player selected.

The Braves added a local prospect to their farm system in the way of Lucas Sims, a hard throwing right-handed pitcher with two impressive breaking balls.
