The Atlanta Braves are playing some good ball right now. The club clinched their sixth win in a row on Saturday afternoon with a 5-2 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, led by Tommy Hanson on the mound. Hanson worked eight innings and allowed just two runs to score on five hits and a walk, striking out four in the process.
Dan Uggla hit a huge three-run homer in the third inning off Toronto starter Drew Hutchison to give the Braves an early 3-0 lead. Jose Bautista of the Jays drove home two runs with a homer in the top of the seventh, but that was all his team would scratch across on Saturday.
Andrelton Simmons responded in the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run to left field, the first of his career. Jose Constanza then reached on a bunt, was moved over to second base on a bunt from Hanson and came around to score on an RBI-double down the left field line from Michael Bourn.
Craig Kimbrel came in the ninth and recorded his 18th save of the season. Uggla made a fine diving catch to record the final out of the game.
Atlanta will go for the series sweep tomorrow. First pitch from Turner Field is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. Julio Teheran will make the spot-start in place of Tim Hudson due to bone spurs in his ankle.
