Ben Sheets had his second straight impressive start for Double-A Mississippi and could be nearing his major league return with the Braves.
According to Fredi Gonzalez, Atlanta will pitch Tim Hudson on Friday when they open a series with the New York Mets and Tommy Hanson on Saturday. If Sheets doesn't require another minor league start then he will be called upon to start Sunday's series finale against the Mets. Gonzalez also indicated that the decision as whether or not another minor league start was needed would be left up to Sheets.
Atlanta plans to throw Jair Jurrjens the following Tuesday agains the Giants and then either Randall Delgado or Mike Minor on Wednesday. If Sheets is unable to go on Sunday then the Braves will turn to either Delgado or Minor against the Mets.
