Ben Sheets To Make Atlanta Braves Debut On Sunday Against Mets

After two successful rehab starts with the Mississippi Braves, Ben Sheets will be called up by the Atlanta Braves to make his first start at the major league level in nearly two years. Sheets will pitch the series finale against the Mets on Sunday, who currently sit one-half game back of Atlanta in the National League East standings.

Sheets' fastball sat in the 88-91 range in the two starts, topping out at 93 on a couple of occasions. His most impressive pitch was the curveball, which is a deadly pitch when it stays down in the zone.

No word has come as of yet for whether or not Randall Delgado or Mike Minor will be bumped from the starting rotation, but my guess is Delgado at this point. He could benefit from extra seasoning to harness his control in Triple-A, and Minor has shown signs of improvement in recent starts.

It's important to limit expectations for the 33-year-old righty, but he finally looks healthy after multiple arm injuries. If nothing else, these next few starts for Sheets will be very interesting to watch.
