Braves Avoid Sweep And Now Head To Washington For Crucial Series

The Atlanta Braves successfully avoided a sweep on Thursday by defeating the San Francisco Giants 3-2. That win completed a six game home stand in which they went 4-2 and now enter a huge four-game series with the Washington Nationals that includes a double header on Saturday.

"A good homestand, 4-2, now keep going into a pretty significant series, these four games against Washington and see how we come out of that" said Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez

The Braves will enter the weekend series 3.5 games behind the Nationals and with the opportunity to significantly close the gap. Washington is just 5-5 in their last 10 games while the Braves are 8-2 in their last 10 despite dropping the first two games to the Giants. Over the last few weeks they have made up some ground and have the opportunity to draw even closer.
