Friday night became another milestone for Atlanta Braves third baseman Chipper Jones who is now the all-time leader in RBI's for a third baseman with 1,598. Jones achieved the feat in the top of the eighth inning when Jones singled to left field which knocked in Paul Janish and Martin Prado.
Jones' RBI came at a very good time for the Braves as it cut into the Washington Nationals lead to make it a 9-8 game, and was part of a Braves offensive spurt that saw them score five runs in the sixth inning and three more in the eighth inning. The Braves have overcame their 9-0 deficit in the ninth inning and now lead the Nationals 10-9 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. It is looking like Jones accomplishment might have helped the Braves recover from an nine run hole.
