Ryan Dempster Trade Update: Atlanta Braves Still Trying To Finalize Deal

The internet went nuts on Monday when it was revealed that the Atlanta Braves were working to trade for the league's ERA leader Ryan Dempster. It was rumored that Braves young right-hander Randall Delgado was a part of the deal, but neither the Braves or Cubs ever confirmed that, and Dempster eventually came out to debunk the rumors.

That doesn't mean this trade isn't going through. Dempster just happens to have the power to think it over, and even veto the deal as a 10-and-5 player (10 years in the Major League, 5 years with the current team).

The Braves were supposedly second on his list of desirable destinations in the event of a trade, behind the Dodgers. The Cubs and Dodgers never agreed on deal.

At this point, it all comes down to Dempster's decision, and if the deal is finalized then other details will become clearer as well.
