The Atlanta Braves are no longer considering a trade for Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Ryan Dempster according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
The Braves have been after the league leader in ERA for at least the last week, but just as it appeared that both teams agreed to a deal on Monday, the trade fell through and Dempster will still stay with the Cubs for the time being.
With Dempster out of the question, Heyman is reporting that Milwaukee Brewers starter Zack Greinke will be the Braves' number one priority before the trade deadline on July 31. Grienke has been excellent for the Brewers this year, going 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA and would be a great fit for the Braves as they look to improve their starting rotation before the trade deadline.
