The Atlanta Braves have been in the market to acquire a starting pitcher before the July 31st trade deadline. But that market just got a little smaller as the Milwaukee Brewers traded Zack Greinke on Friday according to John Morosi, national baseball writer for FoxSports.com:

With Greinke being shipped off to Los Angeles, the only viable starting pitcher options still available for Atlanta are Ryan Dempster of the Chicago Cubs and James Shields of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Braves had been actively pursuing Dempster but failed to get him out of Chicago and the team has since shifted their focus to Shields.
