The Braves look to defeat the Marlins for the second consecutive game on Tuesday to take control of this three-game series. More importantly, a win for the Braves would be their seventh straight, as they inch closer to the top of the NL East division, currently 3 1/2 games behind the leading Washington Nationals.
On Tuesday, Kris Medlen (1-1, 2.48 ERA) will take the mound for the Braves, facing Ricky Nolasco (8-9, 4.80 ERA) in the pitchers' duel. This is the second time in less than a week that Medlen pitches against the Marlins. On July 25, he went three innings and struck out five while giving up no runs and no hits.
