Chipper Jones moved from the electorate to a confirmed roster spot for the 2012 MLB All-Star Game in Kansas City when the Dodgers' Matt Kemp went down with an injury, and he justified his inclusion with a five-hit night on Tuesday, but immediately went to stumping for snubbed leadoff man Michael Bourn, who is part of the "final vote" contest for the NL roster:
"The one reason I’m really glad that it happened today is that now we can all vote for Mike Bourn and get him there," Jones said. "Mike Bourn has been our most valuable player this year. He’s jumpstarted our offense time and time again. When he came over to shake my hand to congratulate me I told him he was coming with, so we’ve got to get him there."
You can vote for Bourn, who is hitting .304 with a .352 on-base percentage, 16 doubles, seven homers and 23 stolen bases, over at MLB.com
