MLB Futures Game 2012: USA Team Shows Off Bats In 17-5 Win

A nine-run sixth inning sparked a 17-5 win for the USA over the World in the MLB Futures Game on Sunday. The home team scored 17 of the last 18 runs in the game.

The only Braves representative, catcher Christian Bethancourt, was on the losing end of the scoreboard. He started and hit ninth, but he went 0-for-3 before being removed.

The 20-year old enjoyed the experience but is not impatient to get back to a major league ballpark.

"I really don't think about that," Bethancourt said. "I just think about coming to the field to help my team and do the right things every day. If it does happen, then it happens."

The game's most valuable player was Nick Castellanos, who hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Castellanos is a third baseman in Double-A for the Detroit Tigers.

All-Star festivities will continue on Monday with the Home Run Derby.
