After wrapping their series against the San Francisco Giants, the Atlanta Braves stay on the west coast to take on the San Diego Padres on Monday as Paul Maholm heads to the mound at San Diego's Petco Park at 10:05 p.m. EST.
The Braves, along with the St. Louis Cardinals, remain atop the National League Wild Card chase, leading the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates by slim margins for the two spots available.
The Padres will counter with Casey Kelly, who is making his major-league debut on Monday, on the mound to take on the Braves offense. Maholm has gone 7-2 with a sub-2.00 ERA in his last 11 starts and looks to continue his streak of good performances against the Padres.
In the teams' last meeting earlier this month, the Braves took three of four from the Padres, outscoring San Diego 19-5 in the four-game set.
