Braves reliever Jonny Venters hasn't pitched in over a week because of a sore elbow but it doesn't appear to be anything serious according to manager Fredi Gonzalez.

"He's fine. We've kind of laid off him the last three or four days. He threw a bullpen today, and unless something comes up crazy he should be good tomorrow....

"Just tender with his elbow a little bit. Nothing major. So we just took a step back."

Venters spent 16 days on the disabled list in late July with inflammation in his elbow but returned and had reported no problems until recently. Venters has pitched in four innings since coming off of the disabled list and hasn't allowed a run despite giving up three hits while walking two. Venters has a 3.96 ERA in 44 games this season a year after posting a 1.84 ERA in 85 games last season.
