The Braves are trailing the Phillies 7-3 after seven innings. Philly jumped out to an early 5-0 lead over Atlanta in the first inning, so the Braves have been trying to climb out of a hole ever since.
Ryan Howard and Erik Kratz plated the five runs in the first inning with RBI doubles. Howard doubled deep to left field to score Kevin Frandsen and Chase Utley. Then Kratz hit a double to shallow right field, which scored Howard, Ty Wigginton and John Mayberry.
The Braves scored in the second inning on Frandsen's throwing error and later on hits from Reed Johnson. Braves pitcher Paul Maholm made an early exit, since the Phillies were having their way with him.
