Much of the leadup into Sunday's meeting between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves focused on Atlanta's three-game losing streak and its inopportune timing. When Braves starter Paul Maholm's proved ineffective through two-plus innings pitched, it looked as if the Braves' streak was headed for four.
But a late-inning comeback highlighted by Chipper Jones's walk-off homer put Braves fans at ease for the night, including the guys over at Talking Chop.
Chipper Jones is some kind of amazing.
With two outs in the ninth, Chipper launched a Jonathan Papelbon fastball deep into the Atlanta night to complete another amazing comeback, dropping the Phillies 8-7.
... The win capped off what was a miserable outing for Paul Maholm.
Also make sure to check out the post for Braves radio announcer Jim Powell's call of the homer and make sure to stick around for him to proclaim "it is party time in Atlanta."
