The Atlanta Braves are close to wrapping up a playoff berth in the National League, as they hold a six-game lead on the St. Louis Cardinals for the first wild card spot. The Braves also hold a nine-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers for the second wild card spot, with just nine games left to play.
This means that the Braves will clinch a wild card spot with either their next win, or with losses by Milwaukee and Los Angeles.
While the Braves have a wild card all but sewn up, the NL East is still up for grabs -- just barely. The Braves trail the Nationals by five full games, and it's highly improbable that the Braves will catch the Nationals, but crazier things have happened.
