Braves reliever Eric O' Flaherty will attempt to rest his sore back as much as possible as the regular comes to close and Atlanta prepares for the 2012 MLB Playoffs.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez told David O' Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he hopes to rest O'Flaherty as the Braves close out their regular season schedule:
"(It’s) nothing as major as it had been before where we had to give him 15 days off," Gonzalez said after Saturday’s game. "He felt a lot better today, so we’re going to stay off him. Hopefully we get him a game before that Friday game, the play-in game, but we’re just going to be cautious with him."
O'Flaherty has appeared in 63 games for the Braves as the setup man to closer Craig Kimbrel. O'Flaherty is 3-0 with a 1.76 ERA in 56.1 innings this season. O'Flaherty last pitched on Sept. 26 against the Miami Marlins when he gave up one hit and had a strikeout in an inning of work.
