The NFL Network is rolling out its list of the 100 best players in NFL history, with the most recent installment revealing Deion Sanders ranked 34th. The best player to ever play for the Falcons (yes, that was judiciously worded), Sanders responded by breaking out of his Deion Sanders character for a call-in into NFL Total Access studios.
↵Grilling Rich Eisen and Rod Woodson on why the list includes 19 quarterbacks and only 37 defenders (great point, actually), Sanders says he should be ranked fourth behind Jerry Rice, Jim Brown, and Lawrence Taylor. As a lifelong Sanders fan, top 25 sounds more reasonable to me.
↵In other news, Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez ranked 45th -- not even the highest-ranked tight end, even though he'll retire second or third all-time in receiving yards among all players.
