Falcons Are 8-0 Against California Teams Since Leaving The NFC West In 2002

Speaking of Jerry Glanville, remember the California Trophy he started hauling around after sweeping the NFL's Cali teams one year? A refresher:

↵
"Hey, we're the state champions of California," proclaims Jerry Glanville, ringmaster as much as coach of the Falcons, pointing to the five-foot trophy ... that celebrates victories over the Chargers and the Raiders and twice each over the Rams and the 49ers.

Might be time to order up a new trophy, since the Birds have held the title for almost a decade now, with no more Golden State teams on the schedule this year. The damage:

↵
    ↵
  • 2004, week 1: at 49ers, 21-19
  • ↵
  • 2004, week 6: vs. Chargers, 21-20
  • ↵
  • 2004, week 14: vs. Raiders, 34-31
  • ↵
  • 2007, week 9: vs. 49ers, 20-16
  • ↵
  • 2008, week 8: at Raiders, 24-0
  • ↵
  • 2008, week 13: at Chargers, 22-16
  • ↵
  • 2009, week 5: at 49ers, 45-10
  • ↵
  • 2010, week 4: vs. 49ers, 16-14
  • ↵
↵

After decades of being the NFC West's co-doormats along with the Saints, it's nice to have a run of dominance over the west coast. (The Falcons beat the Seahawks in their most recent meeting, too.)
