NFL Power Rankings, Week 9: ESPN And Fox Sports Like The Patriots, Then It's Anybody's Guess

ESPN and Fox Sports released their power rankings and the only thing they can agree on is the New England Patriots are number one. ESPN ranks five AFC teams atop the heap with the Baltimore Ravens at two, the Pittsburgh Steelers at three and the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts at four and five, respectively.

The Atlanta Falcons are still the best team in the NFC despite moving down one spot during their bye week.

Each of the Falcons’ next five opponents won its most recent game. That includes the upstart Bucs, who visit Atlanta in Week 9.

Fox Sports agrees with the Patriots at number one but then it’s the New York Giants at two, the Colts at three, Jets at four and the Ravens rounding out the top five.

The Falcons moved up one spot to seventh but are only the second-best team in the NFL behind the aforementioned G-Men.

GM Tom Dimitroff deserves credit for addressing most of the team’s needs coming into the season, but if they just had one more pass rusher to play opposite John Abraham, you could make a case for Atlanta to be ranked even higher at this point.

One thing’s for certain, the NFL is the Wild West. It’s Thunderdome! If only there was a way for us to know for sure which team’s were actually playing well and which teams are getting by on an easy schedule and past reputation. You’re welcome.
