Ravens Vs. Falcons: Joe Flacco Joins Long Line Of Falcons Opponents Who's Never Heard Of Brent Grimes

Six-foot-six Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco spoke to ESPN’s Pat Yasinkas on what he thinks about the Atlanta Falcons secondary. Something about his comment sounds very familiar. See if you can pick it out:

“They have one guy,’’ Flacco said. “He’s pretty short. But he can go out and play. He can be a little aggravating too.’’

He’s referring to five-foot-ten-or-so CB Brent Grimes. Earlier this season, Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson called Grimes “a little bit short and things like that.” Days later, Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco live-tweeted a film session, saying he was “not sure of the name of #20.”

You’ll assume no malicious intent by any of these players, though this would be a pretty amazing leaguewide prank on Grimes, if this is the kind of thing the NFLPA has been up to. In defense of our diminutive and unheralded defensive back, let’s keep in mind Drew Brees, Josh Freeman, and Mark Sanchez certainly know who he is by now — he’s picked off each of them multiple times since the middle of last season.
