The Atlanta Falcons had several scenarios where they could clinch a playoff berth today. Most of those scenarios have all fallen the Falcons way including this one. The New England Patriots beatdown the Chicago Bears in a snowstorm, 36-7, to help the Falcons move closer to clinching a playoff spot. With the Green Bay Packers losing earlier, the Falcons only need either the New York Giants or Philadelphia Eagles to lose to clinch their second playoff berth in three seasons.
The Bears turned it over four times and Deion Branch caught 151 yards and one touchdown as the Patriots tied the Falcons with an 11-2 record. The Bears fell off the pace in the NFC with the loss and now sit at 9-4. The Bears still lead the NFC North though because the Packers lost to the Detroit Lions when Aaron Rodgers was injured.
