Five-time UFC champion Randy Couture sort of appeared to announce his retirement via Twitter the other night, though it sounds like he still wants to fight. This past offseason Couture worked with the Atlanta Falcons, making them the first NFL team to incorporate MMA training into their team-wide workouts.
↵There was a video of one of the workouts, which went down after practice and regular conditioning drills, but I can't find it anymore. Lots of punching and kicking stuff and rolling. No punters in arm bars.
↵One Falcoholic wonders whether the extra conditioning made a difference, considering the team has won so many games in the fourth quarter this season. It's a very good point to make -- in all but maybe one or two games this season (at Pittsburgh, maybe at Carolina or at Philly though those games were both long over) the Falcons have looked significantly better in the closing minutes than their opponent has. That's no accident.
↵NFL teams would be wise to follow Atlanta's lead and dial up a UFC star or two. If Couture's looking for a straight cash post-MMA career, I think he's got one.
