Rex Grossman Starting Over Donovan McNabb A Decade After Backing Up Jesse Palmer

Mike Shanahan has decided to hand former Florida Gators QB Rex Grossman the reins to the Washington Redskins ship this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, benching the expensive QB Donovan McNabb. Benching McNabb months after trading for him and weeks after signing him to an extension, that is. Skins players are "pissed," a word that is so much more fun to use when quoting Jason La Canfora.

Georgia Bulldogs fans will recall the Sex Cannon as the guy who filled in for a pre-Bachelor Jesse Palmer in the 2000 edition of the WLOCP, matching Quincy Carter's three interceptions stride-for-stride. Somehow, despite throwing seven career interceptions against the Dawgs, Grossman went 3-0 in Jacksonville. Since then he's had a few moments of glory, including a glorious 2005 retaking of his starting job in a 16-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons that seriously had Chicago Bears fans going nuts in the aisles. Does anybody remember that?
