Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Bill Cowher is reportedly interested in returning to coach an NFL team in 2011. He also reportedly has a "wish list" of teams he'd prefer, listing the New York Giants, Miami Dolphins, and Houston Texans.
The Carolina Panthers have been the rumored potential destination most associated with Cowher's name in recent months, owing to John Fox's hot seat and Cowher's North Carolina ties. He played college football at N.C. State, married a former Wolfpack basketball player, and currently lives in Raleigh, and his daughter plays college basketball at nearby Elon University.
After yesterday's collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles, during which coach Tom Coughlin watched his special teams make two unbelievable errors in the closing minutes, it's not hard to imagine the Giants making a switch. The Dolphins and Texans will both miss the playoffs again, and Cowher is a much hotter item than either Steve Spagnuolo or Gary Kubiak, but there have been no major reports of any of those jobs approaching a transition phase.
