Atlanta Falcons Sell Out Playoff Tickets In Eight Minutes

Atlanta Falcons playoff tickets went on sale this morning, and it looks like the team will get to avoid the embarrassing situation faced by the New England Patriots last season*. At 10:08, tickets for Atlanta's first playoff game had already sold out.

With a win in their next two games, over either the New Orleans Saints or Carolina Panthers, the Falcons will clinch home field advantage and a game at the Georgia Dome on either Jan. 15 or 16. Their opponent will be the lowest-ranked team to survive the wild card round. If you say your prayers every night between now and then, it might even be the 7-9 NFC West champion, who will actually have home field advantage of their own during round one.

If the Falcons can lock up home field this week or next week and win their playoff opener, they'll get to host another for the NFC championship.

* In their defense, Pats fans have had to do this every year as of late instead of twice per decade.
