NFL Schedule: Vikings-Eagles Postponed To Tuesday Night Due To Blizzard In Philadelphia

SB Nation NFL has been paying attention all morning to the possibility of a postponement of tonight’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings due to weather, and it looks like the game will indeed be played later. Fox Sports’ Adam Caplan reports the Eagles have announced they’ll play Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

It’s not just snowing in Atlanta, folks. Much of the east coast is dealing with a full-on blizzard. While the NFL enjoys the TV money a good snowy game can rake in, asking players, staff, and fans to show up in blizzard conditions is too much. For the third week in a row, the Vikings will have their schedule altered due to weather.

The game could’ve been moved to Monday night, but NBC’s broadcasting rights became an issue, since Eagles-Vikings would’ve had to compete with the more meaningful New Orleans Saints-Atlanta Falcons game on ESPN.

For Falcons fans, such as myself, who’d prefer to avoid the Eagles in the playoffs, this game could have one pleasant effect. The Eagles need to win next week against the Dallas Cowboys to ensure themselves of home field advantage. Playing Tuesday night, they’ll have an extremely short week of practice, while the Cowboys have an extra day to prepare after playing Christmas night.
