NFL Playoff Picture: Falcons And Saints Would Likely Meet Again In Playoffs, If Postseason Started Today

The 2010 NFL playoff picture is setting up a possible pair of monstrous storyline games for the Atlanta Falcons, so long as the Birds can keep winning. Besides the Michael Vick thing, the Falcons could welcome the New Orleans Saints into the Georgia Dome again — the teams have met thrice in a season only once, with Atlanta knocking the Saints out of the 1991 playoffs.

As it stands right now, the Saints would play the Rams in round one. We can mark that as a W. The Packers would play the Eagles in Philly. If Philadelphia wins that one, then the Saints would head to the Dome. If the Packers win, Atlanta would get Green Bay.

Either game would be a rematch against a team the Falcons have beaten by a slim margin. Neither would be easy by any means, though the Dome will be rocking in January — don’t you wish winning home field advantage meant the Rams or Seahawks came here in Atlanta’s first game?
