Monday Night Football History: Falcons And Saints Among League's Worst

The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints are set to play on Monday Night Football tonight for the fifth time in six years. Neither team has what you'd call a glorious Monday night history, but the Falcons' is decidedly worse. Atlanta has won only nine of its 31 appearances in pro football's weekly marquee matchup, one of the league's worst rates.

The Birds have a .290 winning percentage only beaten by Houston's .250. If the Texans had held on against the Ravens earlier this year, the Falcons would be the league's worst Monday night team. Hooray, Ravens!

By comparison the Saints' case of the Mondays just looks like a Tuesday afternoon. New Orleans has gone 12-17, good for a .414 percentage, the NFL's 25th-best.

If the Falcons win tonight, their Monday night winning percentage will move ahead of the Arizona Cardinals'. Baby steps, family. A loss would inch them closer to the Texans. The Saints could either hurdle the Bills or fall behind the Jets. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT, Y'ALL.
