Martin Luther King Jr. And Sports, Al Golden's Literature, And Matty Ice: Around The Perimeter

ATL: Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is of course highly Atlanta-relevant, but sports-relevant too? Beyond just the day-long marathon of NBA basketball? Of course! Dr. King was an outstanding athlete and a sports fan according to Andrew Young, especially when he could draw attention to his message by aligning with athletes like fellow Georgian Jackie Robinson.

SEC: Auburn Tigers fans spend a whole lot of time insisting they aren't the state of Alabama's youngest sibling.

↵

ACC: New Miami Hurricanes head coach Al Golden works out a lot, that much we already knew. He has to stay in top shape to tote around the 300-page life manual he's apparently always constructing, which sounds exactly like the kind of thing Jim Mora used to do.

↵

Falcons: Speaking of Jim Mora, he could wind up coaching on Michael Vick's team again. And is Matt Ryan developing a reputation as a bad playoff quarterback after two bad games?
