The Atlanta Falcons have started this game as if they have something to prove and that’s bad news for the Carolina Panthers. After an opening drive touchdown, the Falcons held the Panthers to a three-and-out and were driving again before a Michael Turner fumble (his second in as many weeks) gave the Panthers the ball at their own two-yard line. The Falcons defense stiffened though and forced the Panthers to punt. Eric Weems took that punt 55 yards for a touchdown to bring the Falcons lead to 14 and put them even closer to clinching home field advantage in the NFC playoffs.
The Falcons have outgained the Panthers 106 to two in total yards and appear to be exerting their will in the final regular season contest. There are a lot of questions about the Falcons after their home loss a week ago but they are certainly doing all they can to erase any doubts about this team’s capability of winning the Super Bowl.
