1998's Super Bowl XXXIII between the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos isn't exactly what locals would call a special memory, given the way it went down. But it's still the closest the Falcons have come to taking home a league title -- and that goes for any team in the city, too, other than a handful of Atlanta Braves postseasons.
↵But for the common NFL fan, it might be the most forgettable Super Bowl ever.
↵Pro Football Reference came up with a few lists of the most "storied" Super Bowl matchups of all time, based on the history of success enjoyed by the paired franchises in each. Broncos-Falcons ranks at or near the bottom of each list, beating the Panthers-Patriots game in one, which doesn't really count for much because the Panthers were not even teenagers at the time and the Pats had a terrible football history until football was invented in 2001.
