Jason Brewer over at SB Nation Philly has an interesting piece about the Atlanta Falcons' current and former "face of the franchise" making friends in Hawaii. Yes, Michael Vick and Matt Ryan were seen playing catch during practice for the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl. After what transpired between Vick and Atlanta in 2007, it's a situation that I feared would cause a singularity. The man many blame for the dreadful 2007 season tossing the pigskin with the man many credit for the turnaround of the franchise. The space-time continuum was in danger! Thankfully, I was wrong. But it brings up an interesting point.
I know there are a lot of Falcons fans who hate Vick for what he did to the franchise but there's also (I imagine) an equal number who still like him whoever he plays for. Pro athletes are part of a fraternity that few ever get the chance to join and not many of them hold their brothers in the NFL to the same morale code that fans often do. Just as Roddy White hung out with Vick during the off-season, Vick and Ryan have no beef. I think the real story would be if we saw Arthur Blank playing catch with Vick.
