After a poor kickoff that gave the Saints great field position and an early field goal, the Seahawks then turned the ball over and found themselves down 10-0 after a Drew Brees to Heath Evans touchdown pass. Things were not looking for the double-digit underdog Seahawks to pull an upset.
That’s why they play the game. The Seahawks looked downright playoff-like with a six-play, 57-yard drive that culminated with Matt Hasselbeck finding a wide-open John Carlson for an 11-yard touchdown and cutting the Saints lead to only three.
The Seahawks lost Ben Obomanu during their scoring drive with an apparent wrist injury. He left the game and was replaced by Brandon Stokley. Matt Hasselbeck, despite throwing that interception on the Seahawks first drive, has settled down nicely and is 6-for-7 for 45 yards and the one touchdown. He had some success against this Saints secondary in their first meeting as well, throwing for 366 yards and one score.
